An Amateur Radio, Technician Level class will be held at the Miami-Dade EOC (9300 NW 41 St, 33178) on Oct 5th, 12th and 19th from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM followed by an exam session on Oct 19th at 1PM.  (in short, to pre-register please go to: http://tinyurl.com/HamClassOct )
As a Technician License holder you will be authorized to operate on Ham Radio frequencies used for metropolitan area communications and on a few other ‘mid range distance’ frequencies.
The class is open to anyone interested in learning the basics of radio communications and will give you a solid foundation to prepare for the exam. For your convenience, we will coordinate an exam session at the end of the third day. The class is free but there is a $15.00 fee for the exam.
We will provide a copy of a popular study guide (The No-Nonsense,Technician Class License Study Guidehttp://kb6nu.com/tech-manualand the latest question pool from the FCC database. Most participants do not require any additional study materials but some may benefit from resources such as: The ARRL Ham Radio License Manual (http:/www.arrl.org), The 2010-2014 Technician Class (http://www.w5yi.org) or many other websites and smart phone apps. Just make sure to verify that they cover the 2010 to 2014 Technician question pool.
