Direction to the EOC: Turn left at the traffic light in front of the Fire Rescue Headquarters/Miami-Dade EOC, and follow entrance road to the left, park behind building and enter at ramp door, sign in.
An Amateur Radio, Technician Level class is schedule at the Miami-Dade EOC on 08/27, 09/03 and 09/10 from 8:30 to 12:00. A Technician License will allow you to operate on frequencies primarily used for metropolitan area communications (and a bit more!).
This class is open to anyone interested on learning the basics about radio communications. The prerequisites for this class are minimal. If you know how to split a check at restaurant, you already know all the math you will need, the rest is curiosity and dedication.
The class is free but you will need to pass an exam to obtain your license. The cost of the exam is $15.00. We will try to schedule a testing session on 09/10 at the end of the class.
