The microphone was passed around the room and everyone took turns and stated their name and call sign. Robert welcomed everyone again. We do not have a guest speaker tonight, but we will have two presentations.

Repeater update:

Ray spoke about the 145.760. No changes. Everything’s working.

Robert spoke about the 220.000. Not working.

Merritt spoke about the 147.000. It’s back on the air. The temp machine went down. People were working on the tower and now it’s working.

The MS 150 Breakaway was discussed next. We will use the 147.000 if its up and working. We have a contingency plan with a remote receiver and will double the output.

Carl was not present tonight. Merrit advised that the 444.200 is working very well.

Old Business:

Robert spoke about the Ham trailer. Steve is not here tonight but it still needs a lot of work.

Matt spoke about the Breakaway. Need people to work the rest stops. See Matt if you are interested. He will have maps and turn-by-turn info posted on the web. It is May 2 & 3rd. The riders will leave Miami Dade South Campus at 7:00 AM on Saturday and will leave John Pennycamp at 7:00 AM on Sunday. Jason said that they expect to be off the Saturday route by 5 PM and by 4 PM on Sunday. There will also be a 50 mile short course this year for Saturday using the Bus Way. He explained the Bike tour and how it benefits MS and that they work with UM School of Medicine in our own backyard. The Geno project helps to identify MS. Ham operators at the rest stops advise when they need more ice, more water, etc. They pass on emergency traffic if there is any. It is a controlled net both days. Free camping and free food at John Pennycamp. You get a free T-shirt and box lunch and BBQ for dinner. You can work only 1 day if that is all you can do. The fastest riders finish the course in about 3 hours.

Robert advised of the Boy Scout Merit Badge College. No one could attend this year. Hopefully we can have people attend next year.

Robert asked about any other old business and there was none.

New Business:

Robert announced that Jeff won his job back in this building.

This weekend is the UM free flea (April 18) by the Physics parking lot at dawn. By 11 AM its over. There is a BBQ at the park afterwards. John will be bringing a lot of “stuff”.

Hamfest was discussed. The committee met. Maricio, Jeff and Tom Morris are in charge of advertising; inside swap chairperson is Esther; Outdoor swap chairman is Meritt; Security is Matt; John Vecchio will loan us the radios like last year. Steve is in charge of ticket sales; Alberto is the MC; Ray the website; Frank – IT, WiFi, etc; Jason volunteered to help. We have the building on hold. Working on the flyers. It is the weekend after Melborne – Oct 17th – 1 day only. 7:00 AM – 5PM – same schedule; same place.

Hollis asked if anyone has heard from Evelyn since she moved. It was stated that she has posted messages several times on South Florida Hams.

Robert asked about a radio that was loaned to a school and if anyone knew where it ended up. John was asking where it is. If anyone has any information, please see Robert.

Ray announced that ICOM is having problems with clones from China. Be careful what you buy. Merritt said that he saw a Motorola with Kenwood guts.

Robert asked if there was any other new business.

We have two presentations tonight – one by Andy on the P25 and one by Ray on the RT’s.
